Tricolor And Protest Photos Removed From Raihan Vadra Art Exhibition
· India · Times of India, India Today
A controversy arose at Delhi's Bikaner House after venue management asked artist and photographer Raihan Vadra to remove roughly 74 photographs ahead of his solo exhibition, "No Idea Is Final". Vadra, son of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and businessman Robert Vadra, stated he was directed to take down images documenting youth protests in Delhi and two photographs of the Indian flag. While he refused to remove the pictures of the national flag, around 70 protest-related artworks were taken down following management objections regarding their political nature. Vadra maintained that the photographs merely documented events over the preceding six months and criticized the removal as censorship. The exhibition opened as scheduled with about 40 photographs remaining on display and is set to run through Sunday.
