Trinamool Congress MLA Bibhas Sardar was allegedly assaulted and his vehicle vandalised during a public outreach programme in Jaynagar on Saturday night. According to police sources, the legislator representing Baruipur Purba faced attacks at two separate locations in Mansatala and Goalberia Haat while returning from Tilpi village. Sardar claimed that attackers hurled bricks, eggs, and an unexploded bomb at his vehicle, and physically assaulted him with kicks, slaps, and punches. Police personnel from the Dhosa Haat camp rescued the MLA and brought him to the Baruipur subdivisional hospital for treatment, where he underwent a CT scan. Sardar has filed a police complaint naming Sandeep Nair, president of the BJP's local No. 3 mandal, along with other party workers.
