The incident occurred aboard a flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, which was forced to make an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Captain Smit Machchhar was stabbed by his co-pilot during a cockpit altercation but fought back and managed to unlock the cockpit door for passenger and crew intervention. Machchhar sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized in Tabuk, while Israeli and international officials confirmed that one of the pilots was armed with an axe. Trump remarked on the possible Iranian connection when questioned by reporters, noting that authorities are actively investigating the matter.
