Trump’s approval at 32%, Hispanic support down to 24%, Democrats lead among Hispanics 52% to 24%, and 86% oppose taxpayer-funded Trump election ads
· World · LiveMint, New York Times, Bloomberg
Trump’s overall approval remains at a record low of 32%, unchanged from September and the lowest of his political career, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Monday. Only 24% of Hispanic Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, the lowest level recorded during either of his presidential terms, down from nearly half in the 2024 election. Among Hispanic voters, Democrats hold a 52% favour rating compared to Trump’s 24%, a significant advantage ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. An overwhelming 86% of Americans oppose taxpayer-funded election-related television ads featuring the President. The poll also shows Republicans’ traditional advantage among voters aged 50 and above has narrowed to just a two-point lead, while Democrats lead by 18 points among voters under 50. Consumer inflation and the cost of living, driven by rising gasoline and diesel prices linked to the war with Iran launched in February, are the top issues for voters deciding their ballots.
Why it matters
These numbers signal growing vulnerability for Trump and the Republican Party less than a month before the midterms, potentially jeopardizing their control of Congress. Hispanic voters, a key demographic, are shifting toward Democrats, which could influence outcomes in swing districts with large Latino populations.
