Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson, Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and Director of the Office of Personnel Management Scott Kupor will also serve on the panel. The taskforce will report directly to the president and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The initiative comes amid growing pressure from prominent industry figures, including OpenAI executives, for stricter regulation and safety oversight of the technology.
