Two Banned UKNA Cadres Killed in Manipur Joint Operation

Two members of the banned United Kuki National Army (UKNA) were killed and two others injured during a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. The operation began on August 29 in Phaibong village following intelligence reports, culminating in a firefight on September 2. Security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons, including MA rifles, an AK-56 rifle, and various grenades, alongside combat gear. The UKNA has been linked by state officials to the IED attack in Tronglaobi that resulted in the deaths of two minors. Military operations in the surrounding jungle areas remain ongoing.
