Two commercial vessels were struck by drones on Tuesday in Bulgaria's Exclusive Economic Zone about 80 miles off the country's coast. The Togo-flagged Alfa Watan suffered critical structural damage and sank immediately following the strike. The Palau-flagged Able caught fire during the attack, prompting a Bulgarian ferry to evacuate its entire 18-member crew. Two of the rescued sailors sustained severe injuries and were airlifted to a hospital in Varna. The origin of the drones remains unestablished, marking the first such attack on shipping in the NATO member's Black Sea economic zone.
