Two Dead and 19 Hospitalised After Spurious Liquor Outbreak in Bhavnagar

Two people have died and 19 others were hospitalised after consuming spurious liquor in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district, officials confirmed on Wednesday. Police have detained four bootleggers linked to the supply chain following preliminary investigations that indicate the duplicate Indian Made Foreign Liquor bottles originated from Madhya Pradesh. The victims consumed the counterfeit alcohol from duplicate bottles at Kharakdi village, leading to rapid health deterioration. One patient, Upendrasinh Gohil, died at Sir T Hospital in Bhavnagar, while another fatality occurred under suspicious circumstances at the same government facility. Superintendent of Police Nitesh Pandey stated that technical surveillance and human intelligence were deployed to apprehend the local distributors operating across Vartej and other city police station jurisdictions. Gujarat enforces a total prohibition on the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcohol.
