Two Kerala Women Killed in California, Friend Detained

Two women from Kerala were killed in separate incidents in Milpitas, California, on August 28, 2026. The deceased were identified as Anjana Hari, 35, from Thrissur, and Ann Mathew, 40, from Thiruvananthapuram. According to relatives, a friend named Anila, a native of Kottayam, allegedly murdered Ann in an apartment room at the Mill Creek Apartment complex before hitting Anjana with a car in the parking lot. The San Jose Police Department detained the suspect following the incident. Union Minister Suresh Gopi confirmed the homicides and stated that steps are underway to repatriate the mortal remains.
