Two Turkish Citizens Arrested in Germany Over Starlink Station Fire in Poland

· World · Al Jazeera, Reuters

Two Turkish citizens have been detained in Germany over a fire at a Starlink station in central Poland that Warsaw has branded an act of sabotage carried out on Russia’s behalf. Polish officials announced the arrests one month after the fire in Masovia, which engulfed the power system and backup generator of a Starlink facility used to support Ukraine’s military communications. Polish Minister of Interior Marcin Kierwinski stated that the suspects will face charges of carrying out sabotage on the instructions of a foreign intelligence agency. German police executed the arrests on behalf of Polish services. Special Services Minister Tomasz Siemoniak stated that Russian services are increasingly turning to individuals linked to the criminal underworld for hybrid attacks aimed at eroding support for Ukraine.

Why it matters

The sabotage of communication infrastructure directly targets Ukraine's battlefield coordination and highlights the expanding scope of hybrid attacks across Europe.
