Two Turkish Ships Collide Off Istanbul, 10 Crew Missing

Two Turkish-flagged commercial vessels, the Alsu and the Tugberk Imamoglu, collided early Wednesday in the Sea of Marmara near the Silivri district of Istanbul. While the Alsu sustained no visible damage, authorities have lost contact with the Tugberk Imamoglu and its 10 crew members. Coast guard ships and helicopters have been deployed to the area to conduct search and rescue operations. The Tugberk Imamoglu, a bulk carrier, was en route to the Black Sea port of Karadenizeregli when the collision occurred at approximately 3 am. The Alsu, a chemical tanker, was traveling to the Aegean port of Aliaga.
