Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the extension on FOX News Channel following an unscheduled meeting in Washington with China’s vice premier He Lifeng. Bessent noted that the extension aims to give Beijing more time to fulfill commitments under the existing Busan Agreement. The announcement coincided with the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington for a multi-state visit. Bessent also indicated that further agreements regarding American agricultural exports and financial services could be announced in the coming days.
