U.S. Citizen Teens Left in Texas After Parents Deported by ICE

Nineteen-year-old Dulce Zepeda and her 13-year-old sister, Maria, have been living alone in Fort Worth, Texas, since their parents were deported following an arrest by ICE. The sisters, who are U.S. citizens, were separated from their parents after a shoplifting incident at a Walmart in Burleson in August 2025. Their mother, Daysi Munoz, stated that she and her husband were detained after attempting to pay for items they had inadvertently left in their cart. Munoz reported that she requested to take her daughters with her to Honduras, but was informed by ICE that doing so would require several additional months in a detention center. Dulce currently supports herself and her sister by working at a local McDonald’s and selling family belongings to cover living expenses.
