Udhayanidhi Stalin Dares Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to Open Corruption Files
· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu
Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday dared Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay in the Chennai Assembly to open three pending corruption files on his table and initiate legal action. Initiating a debate, Udhayanidhi questioned why the chief minister was delaying action after previously warning the opposition DMK that he possessed incriminating files from three government departments. Minister N Anand intervened to maintain that the government holds full evidence and will pursue legal steps at the appropriate time. Speaker J C D Prabhakar dismissed accusations that the chief minister depends on external influences for decision-making. The exchange follows Vijay's earlier statements in the Assembly warning the opposition against demanding evidence of past regime corruption.
Why it matters
