UK Man Charged With Assisting Russian Spy Sabotage Plot

Joshua Cammidge, a 31-year-old British national, has been charged with assisting a foreign intelligence service with intent to commit way. He was arrested by Metropolitan and Wiltshire Police in Swindon and detained under the National Security Act. Prosecutors allege he received instructions from a representative of the GRU Volunteer Corps, a group controlled by Russia's military intelligence agency. The UK government deemed the group a national security threat in July for conducting hostile covert operations. Those convicted of assisting the group can face up to 14 years in prison.
