· World · ABC News (AU), CNA, Reuters
British police declared a major incident and evacuated homes near RAF Fairford in south-west England following the arrest of several men on suspicion of explosives offences. Eyewitnesses reported armed police blocking access to the main gate alongside about 30 emergency vehicles stationed in the village. The base has been used by the US Air Force to carry out strikes on Iranian missile sites threatening ships in the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict in Iran began. Police confirmed that the incident has now been contained and suspects have been taken into custody. President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the strait within seven days while threatening further bombing.
