UK Sends Ukraine More Storm Shadow Missiles to Disrupt Russian Military Operations
· World · Bloomberg, TASS, Wall Street Journal
The UK is supplying Ukraine with additional long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles to disrupt Russian military operations targeting civilian infrastructure ahead of winter. The resupply was discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London on Wednesday. The discussion involved people familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity. The weapons consignment has not been publicly announced. The missiles are intended to help Ukraine counter Russian strikes on its civilian infrastructure.
Why it matters
Ukraine’s ability to strike deep into Russian-held territory is enhanced, potentially degrading Russia’s capacity to target Ukrainian civilians during winter. This escalation in Western military support may prompt a stronger Russian response or further destabilise the front lines.
