Ukraine Launches 1,000-Drone Attack On Moscow

Ukrainian forces launched more than 1,000 drones at Russia overnight as the Kremlin completed its third and final day of parliamentary elections. Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces shot down 1,100 drones across Russia, Crimea and the Black Sea. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 450 drones were destroyed en route to the capital, while the Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building were damaged. Local Gov. Andrei Vorobyov said the attack killed two people and wounded 20 across the wider Moscow region. The dead were a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman. Ukraine issued no immediate comment on the attack.
Why it matters
The attack caused civilian deaths and damaged a refinery and residential property across the Moscow region. It also brought a major drone assault into Russia's final day of wartime parliamentary voting.
