Ukraine Unveils Army of Robots Initiative to Expand Unmanned Warfare
· World · Times of India, Indian Express
Ukraine has launched the Army of Robots initiative to integrate unmanned ground vehicles and robotic systems deeper into battlefield operations. Former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the defence-tech ecosystem on September 26 to support the development, testing, and deployment of military machines. The program builds on Ukraine's experience with the Army of Drones initiative launched after Russia's full-scale invasion. The initiative focuses on deploying robots for high-risk missions such as reconnaissance, ammunition transport, casualty evacuation, mine clearance, position defense, and combat strikes. Unmanned ground vehicles have already carried out more than 25,000 logistics missions on the frontline according to Ukraine's defence ministry.
Why it matters
The initiative aims to minimize human casualties among Ukrainian soldiers by deploying machines into high-risk battlefield areas for logistics, reconnaissance, and combat support.
