Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha Calls Indian Truce Proposal Most Comprehensive
· World · Hindustan Times, Zee News
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated in Kyiv that Ukraine has received ceasefire proposals from four countries, describing India's initiative as the most comprehensive. Sybiha told reporters on Friday that Ukraine is open to various truce formats with Russia, provided any agreement includes protections for energy and port infrastructure as well as the Black Sea. Similar limited proposals focused on grain exports and maritime truces have been put forward by Turkey and Egypt, while the US has also advanced an energy truce proposal discussed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Donald Trump. Ukrainian officials did not specify when New Delhi submitted its proposal, and Indian authorities have not yet issued an official comment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly emphasised India's readiness to assist in resolving the conflict, which has disrupted global food, fuel and fertiliser supplies.
Why it matters
Recognition of India's diplomatic proposal by Kyiv highlights New Delhi's growing role in international mediation efforts regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.
