UN Reports Record Number of Attacks on Aid Workers in 2025

A record 907 aid workers were killed, injured, or kidnapped globally in 2025, according to the United Nations humanitarian office. UN humanitarian officials stated that the increased use of cheap and adaptable armed drones in conflicts significantly heightened the risks for humanitarian personnel. Of the total casualties, 350 aid workers were killed last year, compared to 387 deaths recorded in 2024. Gaza was the deadliest location for humanitarians with 186 deaths, followed closely by Sudan. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the violence and urged states to respect the rules of war and hold perpetrators accountable.
