Aid began reaching survivors in Nepal on Friday following catastrophic flash floods along the mountainous border region with China. The UN agency for children reported that at least 17,000 children are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, with 18 schools destroyed and 20 others damaged. The International Red Cross estimates that 93,000 people have been affected, while Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority stated that the number of missing people has doubled to nearly 2,000. In Nuwakot, entire villages were swept away, leaving survivors sheltered at makeshift army relief centers and military training camps such as Maithali Barrack. Authorities have mobilized 14,829 security personnel for search and rescue operations, deploying drones to access dangerous areas.
