The Union Cabinet in New Delhi adopted a resolution on Tuesday praising the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 25 years. I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the resolution marks uninterrupted public service from October 7, 2001, to October 7, 2026, spanning his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and subsequently as Prime Minister. The resolution highlighted key governance initiatives originating in Gujarat, including the SWAGAT grievance-redressal system and the Jyotigram electricity scheme, which were later expanded nationally. It also credited welfare policies such as 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts, housing programs, and PM-KISAN transfers exceeding Rs 4 lakh crore for moving 25 crore people out of poverty. Vaishnaw attributed Modi's long service to public trust in his governance style and the strength of Indian democracy.
Why it matters
