Union Tribal Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader Jual Oram alleged a conspiracy within his party to defame him and force him out of the Union cabinet. Speaking in Bhubaneswar, Oram claimed that leaders who recently joined the BJP from other parties are orchestrating the smear campaign to create cabinet opportunities for themselves. The Sundargarh MP issued a stern warning that he has the strength to retaliate against anyone trying to damage his reputation. Oram stated he reported the matter to BJP general secretary Manas Mohanty and reversed his earlier decision to retire from direct elections, vowing to contest again. The controversy follows the recent arrest of his representative, Prakash Paswan, by Rourkela police after Paswan booked circuit house rooms for individuals arrested with arms and ammunition.
