Union Ministers to Visit Universities for Gen Z Outreach
· India · The Hindu, Times of India
The central government has launched the 'One Day, One University' initiative to send Union Ministers to universities across India to engage with students. Ministers will interact with Gen Z youth to discuss their concerns and provide information on various government welfare schemes. Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya are coordinating the visits with universities and other ministers. The programme follows recent student protests regarding the NEET-UG paper leak, which led to a police crackdown at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Why it matters
The initiative aims to improve communication between the government and students following widespread unrest over examination transparency and education policy.
