Unusual Sports India Will Compete In At Asian Games 2026

India will compete in five unfamiliar disciplines at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, running from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The 503-member Indian contingent includes athletes participating in Teqball, Kurash, Soft Tennis, Sepak Takraw, and Sport Climbing. Teqball, which combines football and table tennis on a curved table, is making its Asian Games debut as a medal sport with Indian representatives Mohamed Anas Imran Beg, Declan Marshall Gonsalves, and Quimcy Dsouza. The quadrennial event brings together around 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions across 43 sports. While disciplines like cricket, hockey, and athletics dominate mainstream attention in India, the Games provide a major international platform for these developing sports.
