UP CM Yogi Adityanath Announces Benefits for 3.54 Lakh Rasoiyas

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a package of four benefits for 3.54 lakh Rasoiyas, or school cooks, ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival. The monthly honorarium for these workers has been increased from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000. Additionally, the government doubled the annual uniform allowance to ₹1,000 and introduced a ₹5 lakh annual cashless health insurance cover. Rasoiyas are also now provided with a ₹2 lakh accidental insurance policy facilitated through the State Bank of India. The Chief Minister stated that these payments are processed directly into bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer to ensure transparency.
Why it matters
The policy change provides direct financial and social security support to 3.54 lakh workers, approximately 93% of whom are women, across Uttar Pradesh's school kitchens.
