Two sisters from Ballia and Varanasi spent 24 hours in uncertainty after losing contact with their family in Nepal's Nuwakot district during devastating flash floods. Their father, Ashok Kumar Chaurasia, and his brother had operated a clothing shop in the area for nearly four decades before the floodwaters destroyed their home and business. While the sisters eventually confirmed the safety of five family members after spotting a brother on a news broadcast, two relatives—Usha Devi and her son Rahul—remain missing. The family is currently without food or safe drinking water, having lost almost all their possessions to the disaster. The floods in the region have resulted in 600 deaths and 2,000 missing persons across districts bordering Tibet.
