UP Records 56 Deaths in Three Days of Heavy Rain

Fifty-six people died in rain and storm-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh between September 25 and the morning of September 27, according to the state relief commissioner's office. Sitapur reported the highest number of deaths, followed by Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Balrampur, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur. The Central Water Commission noted rising water levels in the Ghagra and Rapti rivers, with the Ghagra at Elginbridge flowing above its danger level at 106.14 metres. Over one thousand houses were damaged and widespread waterlogging occurred, including at the Sonik toll plaza on the Ganga Expressway in Unnao, where pumps were used to drain accumulated rainwater.
