A 43-year-old government primary school teacher named Naushad Ahmed was shot dead near his school in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district on Tuesday. The assailant, identified as 32-year-old farmer Gaurav Chaudhary, surrendered at the Nazibabad police station and handed over a country-made pistol. Police said the accused claimed the motive was his belief that the teacher was promoting love jihad. Preliminary inquiries suggest the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute after the teacher allegedly confronted and slapped Chaudhary four days prior following a clash over an inter-faith relationship. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital after sustaining bullet injuries.
