US-India Space Partnership Shifts Toward Co-Creation and Joint Missions

The India-U.S. space partnership is transitioning from traditional cooperation to the joint development of technologies, missions, and commercial opportunities, according to U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. Speaking at the opening of the ninth Bengaluru Space Expo 2026 in Bengaluru, Mr. Gor stated that the partnership involves co-designing instruments and co-funding start-ups. He reiterated NASA’s invitation for ISRO to participate in the Moon base programme. The U.S. delegation included commercial space firms such as Amazon Leo, BlackSky, and Viasat to foster partnerships with Indian start-ups. Additionally, Australian High Commissioner to India Philp Green highlighted complementary bilateral strengths between Australia and India in the space sector.
