The sanctions will prevent fueling, landing services and ticket sales for any Iranian airline that touches down, and violators risk exclusion from the dollar system, Bessent told CNBC in an interview. The United States and Iran have been at war since late February, when US-Israeli strikes killed Iran's supreme leader and senior military officials, prompting Tehran to block the Strait of Hormuz and drive up global oil prices.
