Uttar Pradesh Offers Free Bus Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that female passengers and one companion can travel free of charge on Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses for Raksha Bandhan. The free travel scheme will operate from the night of August 27 to the night of August 28. During a review meeting in Lucknow, Adityanath directed the Transport Department, police, and district administrations to coordinate comprehensive security and transport arrangements. He instructed Anti-Romeo Squads to remain active and ordered rigorous screening of bus drivers to prevent anyone under the influence of intoxicants from operating vehicles. The chief minister also reviewed ongoing flood and waterlogging situations across multiple divisions including Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow.
