Sooryavanshi recently gained national attention for his performance with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 and his record-breaking opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma during a T20 International against New Zealand. BCA president Harsh Vardhan stated that the appointment aims to further the youngster's development as both a leader and a cricketer.
Why it matters
The appointment marks a significant milestone in Indian domestic cricket, placing a major leadership role on one of the country's youngest rising stars. It signals the BCA's intent to build its competitive strategy around Sooryavanshi's recent international and IPL experience.
