Retail investor participation in the Indian equity markets demonstrated strong momentum during the first quarter of the financial year, with millions of individual investors expanding their presence across major companies. Vedanta recorded the highest quarterly increase by adding 4.86 lakh retail shareholders, growing its base from 20.52 lakh on March 31, 2026, to 25.38 lakh on June 30, 2026. IT major Wipro secured second place by adding 4.08 lakh retail shareholders to expand its total count to 29.58 lakh. Bajaj Auto more than doubled its retail investor base by adding 3.27 lakh shareholders to reach 6.21 lakh. Other prominent firms including Reliance Industries, TCS, and HCLTech also registered substantial retail additions during the quarter.
