Veteran actor Sowcar Janaki has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet, Chennai, due to health complications. The 92-year-old actor has appeared in over 400 films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema throughout her career. Following the news of her hospitalisation, members of the South Indian Artistes’ Association, including President Nassar, visited the facility to enquire about her condition. Janaki, a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2022, made her film debut in the 1950 Telugu movie Shavukaru. She remained active in the entertainment industry for decades, with her most recent appearance in the 2023 Telugu film Anni Manchi Sakunamule.
