VHP Slams INDIA Bloc Over November 1 Delhi Rally
· India · Hindustan Times, NDTV
Vishwa Hindu Parishad national spokesperson Vinod Bansal on Tuesday accused the INDIA bloc of conspiring to disrupt Hindu festivals and the national economy. The criticism follows the opposition's refusal to postpone their November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi despite an appeal from the Chamber of Trade and Industry. Bansal claimed the rally against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls would affect businesses during peak shopping. He also noted that the protest date coincides with Ahoi Ashtami, a fast observed by mothers for their children's well-being. The VHP leader further labelled the opposition alliance as a Triple C gang comprising Congressis, Communists, and Communalist Jihadis.
Why it matters
The dispute highlights growing friction between right-wing groups and opposition parties over political street protests held during major Hindu festive periods.
