VinFast To Develop India-Specific EVs and Expand Tamil Nadu Plant

Vietnamese automaker VinFast is preparing to develop electric vehicles specifically designed for the Indian market to deepen its local manufacturing and sourcing footprint. The company has received investment approval for the second phase of its manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. VinFast has not yet revealed the investment planned for the expansion, the additional production capacity, or the operational timeline. Meanwhile, assembly of the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs using completely knocked down kits at the Thoothukudi plant will continue unchanged. The company also recently organised supplier events in India and Vietnam to expand its local supplier network.
