Visually Challenged Students Write Exams Independently Using Laptops at Andhra Loyola College

Nine visually challenged first-year degree students at Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada wrote their mid-semester examinations independently on Thursday without the assistance of scribes. The students keyed their answers directly into laptops, after which the scripts were printed and forwarded to examiners for evaluation. College Principal Fr. Melchior stated that the initiative reflects the institution's commitment to inclusive education and accessible technology. With this rollout, 16 of the 36 visually challenged students enrolled across Intermediate and Degree programmes at the college are now able to take exams independently. The Higher Education and Persons with Special Needs initiative coordinator G. Sahaya Baskaran noted that the objective is to eliminate the reliance on scribes for every visually challenged student.
