Wayne Rooney Blasts Manchester United Players as Selfish Babies
· Sports · ABC News (AU), News24, Al Jazeera
Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has labelled the club's current squad selfish and accused players of behaving like babies amid mounting internal tension. The criticism follows captain Bruno Fernandes publicly questioning the coaching staff's tactics after a 4-1 Champions League defeat by Como. Defender Lisandro Martinez also previously criticised the club's hierarchy over a lack of investment following a defeat by Atletico Madrid. Rooney stated on a podcast that such public remarks tear the dressing room apart and show a refusal to take on-pitch responsibility. Manager Michael Carrick faces intense pressure with the team winless in seven matches across all competitions.
