West Bengal To Pay October Salaries Ahead Of Durga Puja

The West Bengal government will release October salaries, pensions and family pensions on October 15, ahead of the sixth day of Durga Puja in Kolkata. The revised dearness allowance for employees and dearness relief for pensioners will accompany the payments. Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta announced an additional 20% dearness allowance and dearness relief effective from October 1, over the current 18%. The directive also covers grant-in-aid salaries, wages, stipends and honoraria, with treasuries and drawing and disbursing officers told to clear bills before October 15.
Why it matters
West Bengal government employees, semi-government employees, teachers and non-teaching staff will receive the extra allowance with their October pay. Pensioners and family pensioners will receive the revised relief at the same time.
