West Bengal To Sign Agreement For New Purulia Airport

The West Bengal government will sign an agreement with the Centre on September 28 to construct an airport in Purulia district under the UDAN scheme. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the state has already applied for the necessary licenses and finalised preparations for the project. The airport is part of a broader development strategy for the district, which includes attracting ₹1 lakh crore in investments across the defence, steel, cement, and solar energy sectors. Adhikari also noted that the state plans to expand local tourism infrastructure, including the renovation of a mini zoo and forest department guest houses.
