West Ham United Sacks Head Coach Nuno Espirito Santo
· Sports · BBC Sport
West Ham United has dismissed head coach Nuno Espirito Santo following a poor start to the EFL Championship season. The club currently sits eighth in the league table, six points behind leaders Middlesbrough, after losing back-to-back home matches against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also departed the London-based club. Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will manage the team on an interim basis for the upcoming match against Cardiff City. The board initiated a search for a permanent replacement, with reports suggesting the club is in advanced talks with former Fulham and Burnley manager Scott Parker.
Why it matters
The decision marks West Ham's fourth managerial change since May 2024, reflecting ongoing instability at the club following its relegation from the Premier League last season.
