Operation Safed Sagar documented the events of the 1999 Kargil War and the involvement of the Indian Air Force. Instead, Musharraf prepared for martial law and consolidated his military support. When Sharif attempted to block Musharraf's return from a trip to Sri Lanka, the Pakistan army staged a rebellion and placed Sharif under house arrest.
