WhatsApp Introduces Guest Calling Allowing Users to Join Without Account

· Technology · MacRumors, Gadgets360

Meta messaging platform WhatsApp has launched a new guest calling feature that enables users to invite anyone to voice or video calls without requiring a WhatsApp account. Users can generate a call link through the Calls tab and share it with participants, who can join via a computer browser. The free, end-to-end encrypted calls support up to 32 people simultaneously with no time limits. Hosts retain control over the waiting room, can admit or remove guests at any time, and block guests from viewing phone numbers or sending messages. WhatsApp also announced plans to roll out calendar integrations with Google and Outlook later this year.

Why it matters

The update eliminates onboarding friction for group calls, bringing WhatsApp feature parity with browser-based video conferencing tools like Apple's FaceTime.
