· Technology · TechCrunch
Wispr, the AI dictation startup, secured $280 million in a Series B round led by Menlo Ventures, valuing the company at $2 billion. The new capital will expand its footprint into meetings with a newly released note‑taker tool and enhance its dictation services. With a total of $361 million raised to date, existing investors such as Notable Capital, NEA, Neo Ventures, 8VC and MVP Ventures doubled down, while new backers including Acrew, Forerunner, Goodwater, Peak XV, Together Fund and PLUS Capital joined the round. Wispr also unveiled the Canto model, expected to cut error rates from 30 % to below 10 %, and announced Android releases, British and Indian go‑to‑market team expansion, and a partnership with the Oasis ring for quiet dictation.
Why it matters
The funding positions Wispr to compete more aggressively in the AI dictation and meeting‑note market, affecting users and rival firms such as Willow, Granola and Fireflies, and expanding options for professionals in India and the UK.
