Writer Kalyan Bandi Accuses Netflix Film Gandhari of Plagiarism
· Entertainment · Indian Express, India Today
Writer Kalyan Bandi has alleged that the upcoming Netflix film Gandhari, starring Taapsee Pannu, is based on his original concept rather than the work of producer Kanika Dhillon. Bandi, an IIT Madras alumnus and GST Inspector, claims he registered a story with the same title and premise in 2019. He stated that he pitched his eight-page treatment to Monika Shergill, then at Voot and now a Vice President at Netflix, but was rejected at the time. The writer further noted that he sent a legal notice in September 2025 seeking compensation and credit for the project. Kathha Pictures has denied the allegations, maintaining that the film is an original production.
