Youth Congress Protest at BJP Hyderabad Office Triggers Tension

· India · The Hindu, Deccan Herald

Tension erupted at the BJP headquarters in Nampally, Hyderabad, on Monday after Youth Congress activists staged a protest, allegedly painting the office gate black and burning an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The demonstrators were protesting against an alleged shuddhikaran ceremony held in Uttarakhand and demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the handling of a recent NEET-related protest in New Delhi. Police intervened to disperse the crowd and took Telangana Youth Congress president Jakkidi Shiva Charan Reddy and other activists into custody. In a retaliatory incident, BJYM members later protested at the Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, by throwing eggs. Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the state police for an intelligence failure and inadequate security at the BJP office.

Why it matters

The escalation of protests between political parties in Hyderabad highlights rising inter-party friction and raises concerns regarding the effectiveness of state security and intelligence agencies.
