YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Faces Defamation Suits in Delhi Over Videos
· India · Times of India, Hindustan Times
YouTuber Dhruv Rathee is facing two separate legal proceedings in Delhi involving defamation suits and criminal summons. A fresh defamation suit was filed against him at the Saket court over a video alleging that Lord Ram and Goddess Sita consumed meat and alcohol during their exile. Separately, Rathee has been served fresh summons in a 2018 criminal defamation case filed by BJP IT Cell member Vikas Pandey over a video titled "BJP IT Cell Part 2". Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record Amita Sachdeva and other petitioners earlier approached the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of the video concerning Hindu deities. The Delhi High Court directed the government to take down the content, leading the Ministry to direct YouTube to remove the video on July 15, 2026. The Saket court has adjourned the fresh defamation hearing to November 5 after technical difficulties interrupted video conferencing submissions.
