· Sports · ESPNCricinfo, Cricbuzz, News18
Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has announced his retirement from first-class cricket to focus on limited-overs formats. In an Instagram post, the leg-spinner confirmed that his hunger for One-Day Internationals and T20 Internationals remains very much alive. Chahal stated that he believes he still has competitive cricket left in him and will give everything to earn another opportunity in both formats. The 34-year-old has represented India in 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is, taking a combined total of over 200 wickets in limited-overs international fixtures. The report does not specify which domestic tournaments he will continue to play or his plans regarding the Indian Premier League.
Why it matters
The decision marks the end of Chahal's red-ball career as he narrows his focus entirely to white-ball cricket for India and domestic leagues.
